" For I know the thoughts that I think towards you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end", says God in the book of Jeremiah. 29:11. This is a verse of the scriptures which I vehemently believe that many of love to quote and claim as regards the plans of God for our life. It's undoubtedly the revelation of God's ultimate plans and programs for one's life. This is what God, according to him, has in his mind for you and I with regards to our future. That's really lovely to hear, at least having such a statement of hope coming from our creator.
However, as good as that may seem, we will not really get into the depth of what God is saying, if we don't take our time to read further into the subsequent verses. "Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me.... " - verses 12 & 13. A critical look at these verses will fully reveal to us what needs to be understood and the necessary steps to be taken in order to appropriate the promise, in verse 11, in one's life.
In the preceding verse, God clearly told us of his plans for our future, "that ye may have an expected end - that's a beautiful promise. But the other Verses give us a clue as to how this glorious future of ours can come into reality. It's telling us that we have a very crucial role to play in determining what becomes of us in the future. You don't just fold your hands and be expecting the future to come. Some things need to be done; some steps need to be taken; and prices have to be paid " then shall ye call upon me.... " That's the basic step we need to take.
Beloved, this actually gave me the insights for composing this write up. I believe God is saying, to us, something very critical in respect to having a great future. From my own little experience of life, I have come to discover that your life is solely your responsibility. You, after God, is the highest determining factor in the affairs of your life. Whatever happens to you is as a result of how responsible and serious you are with your life. We all desire a great future. Yes, that's good! But the undeniable fact remains that your future can not just come by; you have to create it. Whatever you are doing now is a shadow of what your future is going to unfold.
All that you have are the raw materials with which you are expected to create your future. That time you are wasting on frivolities, doing all kinds of unnecessary things, is given to you in order to create who you desire to be. The knowledge, money, skill, and the amount of education you have acquired are not useless. They are meant to enable you create your desired future.
The idea that there's a future awaiting everyone is very correct, but that, to my own understanding, seems to portray a false picture of what the future is, actually. Going by that ideology, some are tempted to think to that the future is a definite period of one's life, and that it will, "one day", come to reality. That's a great misconception of what the future really is. Listen, the plain but bitter truth is this: there's no future anywhere! You will be the one to decide how your future looks like. As a matter of fact your today was the tomorrow you envisaged yesterday. So your future is best determined by what you are doing with your today. If you are not taking your life serious today, I'm afraid, there's no bright future awaiting you. Like, just forget about it. If you believe there's a bright future coming, you are merely swimming in the ocean of self deceit and you are living in great illusion.
Yes, God has promised a great future! But we have to be proactive enough to Create it based on God's word for your life. Take responsibility for your life and create your future the way God wants it to be. You have all it takes to build a glorious future for yourself. God has so much provided us with the needed raw materials, like I said earlier, - the greatest of which is time. Today is an opportunity for you to create a tomorrow. Once today is gone, it becomes "a yesterday" over which you have no control. What you invest into today determines what you harvest in your tomorrow. This is one of the basic principles of life.
You need to get this truth inculcated into your thinking faculty, as it will give you a proper understanding of life. I have the impression laid in my heart to share this with you, because many people are regretting today, the future they could have created yesterday. You have got to be doing something meaningful with your life now for you to secure a glorious future. This revelation is absolutely needed for you to guarantee your colorful destination.
Don't think schooling answers it all, in case you are thinking that: after all you are in school. Yes, schooling is good! In fact, it is highly pivotal to having a great future. However, don't forget that education entails more than just schooling. As a matter of fact, schooling is one thing, learning is another thing. Ironically, we have many people who are schooling but they are not learning! They never think beyond the classroom and learn from what's going on out there in order to create a bright future for themselves.
"We are meant to be students of life and students for life", says Myles Munroe. Your acquisition of knowledge does not stop in the school. There's still more for you to learn. Your destiny is not best determined by the curriculum of your school; it is quite more than that. "All that you acquire in school is literacy", says a well respected minister of God. You are now expected to apply that literacy in creating the man or woman of your dream. You need to be enlightened as to how you can maximally utilize your life in order to have a productive destiny.
There are some practical and crucial steps you have to take as to how to create your future. Sitting down idly expecting the day your future will unfold is nothing but building castle in the air!
Here are some of the steps I have highlighted in securing a glorious future:
1. PRAYERS: Firstly, you must prayerfully invest into your future. Prayers have a lot to do with you having a wonderful future. Begin the creation of your destiny with intense prayers. Show me a man of prayer and I will show you a man that has adequate control over his life and future.
When you prayerfully invest into your future, you will bountifully harvest from your destiny.
2.THE WORD OF GOD: Your life also have to be built on the revelation of God's word. He has said some things concerning your life in his word; locate them, through intensive study, and stand on them. There's nothing you will ever need that has not been provided in God's word. God does not have problem granting us the desires of our hearts as regards our future; we rather have problem locating them in his word. The word of God is creative in nature. Apply it into your life. Use it to build your future. Confess it! Proclaim it! Digest it! Meditate on it, and let it become part and parcel of your being. Inside the word is a creative force that can birth a glorious future, through the revelation of God's plan and promises, for you. Show me a man of the word and I will present to you a man that possess the greatest potentials to create his future
3. PAYING THE PRICE: Nothing great comes without a price. Even, if there's any, then it is no more great. The price - sacrifice - needs to be paid to get the prize - a glorious future. All astounding achievements demands sacrificial investments .
Do the needful. Read and study! Learn new things and stay updated! Develop yourself, launch into new learning environment where you can gain new things pertaining to your desired future. That's part of the price you have to pay. Dick Butler remarked, "life is not fair. It is not going to be fair" that's nothing but the truth. you have to pay the price.
Take time to invest wisely into your today to secure your tomorrow. Your future is meant to be created and not just desired!
You have a great future and a colourful destiny. Take time to create it today, and you will see God delivering them to you.
