Taking responsibility

TAKING RESPONSIBILITY

In life, everyone is in the race to be successful, to live a life that is meaningful and great. There is no doubt, we all want to be successful in our various endeavors. As good as this is, they do not, however, just come to us on a platter of gold. If riches were horses, they say, beggars would ride. There are some things that we must not only understand, but also engage, in order for us to be able to achieve our God given goals, become what we aspire to become and fulfill the purpose of God for our lives. Prominent and very critical among them is what I’m going to be talking briefly about. It is called responsibility! I repeat responsibility!

A story was told of Isaac Newton, the great physics whose contributions to the world of science are highly indelible. He made outstanding marks in the sands of time. He was busy working all day in his laboratory one day, and then his wife informed him that his food was ready on the dinning table. This man told his wife he was coming to come and eat it later. Isaac Newton, however, did not come until after a while, when he came only to discover that the food was no longer on the dinning table. Upon that discovery, he said to himself, “oh I have even eaten the food”, whereas, he had never eaten it at all.  He was so carried away by his work in the laboratory that he never even had even forgotten that he had never eaten at all. He had a dangerous sense of responsibility to his career. His meaningful contributions, today, to the world of physics are still resource materials to the science education.

One thing that was so distinct in the life of not only Isaac Newton, but also other great successful men on earth is what I have discovered to be a sense of responsibility. Friend, no man ever succeeds on the alter of mediocrity but by taking responsibility. A critical study of the lives of those who have made significant contributions to the development of their world will reveal to you that one of the secrets of their successes is a sense of responsibility. These guys all have a sense of responsibility. They never folded their hands waiting for what the future would unfold to them or waiting for what destiny/fate would decide for them. No! They rose up out of the average majority and took responsibility for the realization of their dreams. They created their own future.

Success in life does not answer to the having the best ability, but by taking responsibility. Whatever you want to become in life my friend, you need to take responsibility for it. Life is not meant to be lived passively but actively. Only those who arise out of their limitations, take their eyes of their disabilities and focus on their God given abilities will eventually enter into the fulfillment of their God-given dreams. Taking responsibility is the father of productivity. You can never really achieve anything worthwhile in life unless you take responsibility for it. One of the many reasons why people fail in life is not because of their lack of abilities but unwillingness to take responsibility. In fact, many are too lazy that they are always waiting on luck to decide their future. They think success is all about luck. Having that philosophy is tantamount to living a life of total illusion.

Taking responsibility is what makes you productive in life. Nothing works for you until you work for it and work it out. Friend, I challenge you today to take responsibility.
A. Take responsibility for your life for this is the greatest asset you have. God has so much invested in you and he cannot afford you to be a waste to his kingdom. You are greater and highly valuable than you think you are. You are full of potentials that the world needs. If you were not needed, my friend, you would never be created. God had you in mind before your conception in your mothers womb. You have an assignment to fulfil here on earth. Rise up and take responsibility for your life. Take time to discover your purpose. Have a vision and a goal. Do not be too passive; rather, be proactive in your approach to life.
B. Take responsibility to maximize your potentials. You are very much loaded. You never know how productive you can be unless you begin to take responsibility. A wise man carefully observed, “responsibility is that unlocks the possibilities of your abilities”. You never know what you are capable of doing unless you take responsibility to develop your potentials. If you don’t develop them, they will diminish and reduce in value.
The scriptures says in the book of proverbs. 27:23, “be thou Diligent to know the state of thy flocks, and look well to thy herds”. What does it mean? It means you should take responsibility for their well being and management of your flocks. Your flock is your life; your flock is the potentials and talents God has embedded in you. Never let them waste. I like you to sit down and think deeply about your life. How much of anything meaningful use have you put your life to? If there is any best time to prepare for your future, my friend, it is now. Begin to make adequate preparations and investments into your destiny. God does not desire that you be a failure in life, but you need to know that heaven help those who help themselves. You need to take responsibility. Do you have Christ in you? Have you tasted of the saving grace of God? If NO, now is the best time to do that. Give your life to Christ. Repent and forsake your sins. Live your life for him in holiness and righteousness. This is the greatest success. There after, begin to take responsibility for your life, your future and your destiny.
Success is yours in Jesus name! Remember, “success is not attained on the alter of mediocrity but by taking responsibility”
God bless you
